These standards describe how Avelden News reports. Every member of our editorial team follows them.
Accuracy
We publish only what we can verify. Every factual claim in our reporting is backed by a source we can name. We prefer primary sources: official statements, documents, court records, data, and the people directly involved. Claims that rest on a single source are clearly attributed (“according to …”). When sources contradict each other, we say so.
Sources
We do not publish information from anonymous sources. Statements from social media are only used when they come from verified accounts of the people or organizations themselves and are attributed as such.
Fairness
We report on facts, not on sides. When a story involves criticism of a person or organization, we include their response where available. News and analysis are kept apart: explainers and analysis are labeled as such.
People and privacy
We report on public figures in their public roles. We do not publish rumors or details of anyone’s private life without a clear public interest. We do not name or show private individuals who are suspects or victims of crimes, and we do not show children.
Images
We only use images we have the right to use: official press materials, licensed photos, or our own graphics. Illustrations created with AI are labeled as such and never depict real people or real events.
How we use AI
We use AI tools to monitor news, organize research, and draft text. Every story is checked against its sources and edited by a human editor, who is responsible for what we publish.
Independence
Advertisers, sponsors, and the people and organizations we cover have no influence on what we report or how. Advertising is always clearly separated from editorial content. See our Advertising Disclosure.
Corrections
If we make a mistake, we correct it promptly and add a note at the end of the article explaining what was changed and when. To report an error, email newsroom@aveldenmedia.com with the link to the article.
